Rehearsal! Atami Summit - Day 3

At Kiunkaku
Day 3 of the Atami Summit has begun.
Today, a rehearsal for tomorrow's presentation was held at Kiunkaku (a historic villa in Atami), and a yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) tasting event took place at lunchtime. For our tasting session, we tried "Yakitori" from Hotei Foods Corporation. To our surprise, the president of the company, Mr.Yamamoto, is actually an alumnus from our school's 11th graduating class!
Interestingly, this canned yakitori has even been certified as space food. This time, we sampled three flavors: "Tare" (Sweet Soy Sauce), "Yuzu Kosho" (Citrus Pepper), and "Uma-kara" (Savory Spicy).
When we tasted them, they were delicious, and the international students seemed genuinely intrigued and thoroughly enjoyed them. Being able to share Japanese food culture firsthand with our international team members made it a truly memorable moment.

Interim Presentation & Mid-term Rehearsal
Afterward, we held our interim preser and rehearsal.
On September 2nd, each team worke structuring the data from the previou fieldwork and the insights gained fro interviews to build their final presenta How should we organize the charms challenges of Atami discovered durin fieldwork, and in what format should present them? Sharing ideas back and with our international team members pushed forward with our preparation: tomorrow's final presentation.

During the rehearsal, we were able to run through the entire flow smoothly and felt confident that the core message of our slides was well-shared across the team. Our group proposed the implementation of the "My ATAMI" app as a solution to Atami's tourism challenges. This app aims to give first-time visitors a reason to come back, attract younger crowds by highlighting events that showcase the ocean and scenic views, and serve as a model that spreads from Atami to the rest of the country.
Atami's primary challenge is not a lack of charm, but that the town's true appeal is not effectively reaching today's travelers. While we focused on a digital approach, I am excited to hear in tomorrow's presentations how the other teams who walked the same streets identified and tackled Atami's issues from their own unique perspectives.
